Žovnek is both a lake and a castle. The lake is an accumulation lake also used for irrigation, fish farming and fishing. It's a home of many kinds of birds. The castle was the seat of Lords of Žovnek that later became the Counts of Celje. It was a complete ruin overgrown by nature, but is now being restored by enthusiasts.
